    About the Learning and Development Specialist

As a Learning & Development Specialist your primary responsibility will be to ensure internal and external clients have the tools, knowledge and resources to support their continued success. This position will report to the Manager of Learning and Development.


    You will be a key figure in creating and delivering on-boarding training to new employees as well as supporting the on-going needs of internal and external learners. You are a jack of all training trades with the ability to execute end-to-end design, facilitate and evaluate learning solutions and will hit the ground running. As part of an innovative software organization, we are looking for a learning and development professional who is savvy in leveraging technology for greater knowledge transfer and increasing performance outcomes who will help drive our success in empowering PlanSource to build innovative technology that revolutionizes the way healthcare benefits are bought, sold and managed.


    No two days will be the same for the Learning and Development Specialist and these will be your primary responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver learning content and programs utilizing various delivery methods including instructor-led (virtual and non-virtual), self-study, e-Learning and blended learning formats on a variety of product-specific topics
    • Conduct training needs analyses and consult with business leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment of learning solutions with business needs and constraints
    • Facilitate effective training sessions and programs
    • Build e-Learning courses and programs aligned to business needs
    • Partner with subject matter experts to create high-impact training materials specific to job functions
    • Monitor, report and evaluate effectiveness of training programs and continually adjust programs as appropriate
    • Support training needs for software releases and preparation of training material related to system updates
    • Coach and provide feedback to learners
    • Support additional Learning and Development team projects, programs, initiatives and development, as required.

    As a Learning and Development Specialist, you are grounded in the learner experience and passionately advocate for their needs based on your sound understanding and application of adult learning theory. You simply don’t just envision solutions, you will be the one to roll up your sleeves and drive to get it done. You are the kind of person who has a focus on results and loves to inspire and empower people. Below are the primary qualifications/skills required to be considered for the role:


    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in adult learning, communications, organizational development, human resources or a similar field
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in training delivery, instructional design and/or performance consulting
    • You don’t just know the principles of adult learning theory, you know how, when and why to apply the appropriate tactics and have examples to prove it
    • Technology plays a big part in your training approach therefore you are more than familiar with e-learning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Premier Pro, Go Animate, Articulate Storyline, etc. You also bring to the table a solid understanding of additional digital learning tools and strategies.
    • Did someone say facilitate? You jump at the chance, are great at it and can leverage effective techniques in virtual and non-virtual environments
    • You are part detective as you are skilled at conducting training needs analyses, creating learning objectives and content to solve for performance gaps and align to business goals
    • Instructional Design knowledge and experience are in your wheel house
    • Who’s afraid of change? Not you! In fact, you embrace it, and move quickly to learn all its impacts and champion it forward to others
    • You possess a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion
    • You are not a silo; hence you enjoy working with people and across functional teams
    • Possess outstanding communication and relationship skills and fearless in your ability to facilitate conversations with leaders and SMEs in support of building right fit learning solutions
    • Command of project management tactics, inclusive of but not limited to prioritization, negotiation, multi-tasking, etc.
    • Willing to travel to other PlanSource locations monthly or quarterly

    The following desired qualifications will greatly enhance the success of this position

    • One to three years’ experience working in Healthcare, Benefits Administration or Human Capital Management space
    • One to three years’ working with a software technology organization
    • Certification as a CPLP, SHRM-CP, or similar professional training or HR certification
