We are looking for a passionate Learning and Development Specialist to take on the responsibility of identifying internal and external training needs within the Benefits Administration organization and developing training programs to address those needs.


    About the Learning and Development Specialist

    The Learning and Development Specialist will be focused on giving new employees a foundation upon which to add department-specific training and providing general training for Clients using PlanSource technology. This position is a service provider for all departments. The Learning and Development Specialist will receive guidance from the Learning and Development Manager to help with training initiatives and objectives for the going needs of the business.


    No two days will be the same for the Learning and Development Specialist, but these will be your primary responsibilities:


    • Develop training materials and deliver classroom training and webinars for new and existing employees on a variety of product-specific topics
    • Develop self-study courses in workbook, e-learning, or blended learning formats
    • Create or update drafts of various forms of training documents, job-aids, etc.
    • Develop training programs for new and existing employees to cover foundational topics including, but not limited to, general benefits knowledge, benefits administration systems, and processes
    • Work with department managers and subject matter experts to create training materials specific to job functions within their areas
    • Provide encouragement to individual trainees during each class to ensure that they stay motivated and inspired
    • Evaluate training needs of the organization by working with managers and employees, evaluating workflows and work process
    • Ensure proper resources are engaged to provide training for new employees and ongoing training for existing staff
    • Track training for all employees and update master training records
    • Monitor effectiveness of training programs and continually adjust programs as appropriate
    • Update management during regularly scheduled meetings on training programs and status
    • Assist the Client Delivery team in creating and evaluating training programs for Broker and Client Administrators
    • Provide general overview training via webinars to Brokers and Client Administrators as may be necessary from time to time as a back-up to training partner, Next Generation
    • Assist Learning and Development Manager with communication regarding releases and preparation of training material related to releases and system updates
    • Complete job-related training courses and/or seminars, as may be required for the job and/or assigned by Manager
    • Provide evaluations of student performance as indicated by the progress and behaviors demonstrated by students in classes
    • Keep management informed of issues occurring during training that are counterproductive to the learning process
    • Additional duties as may be deemed necessary by management.

    About You

    As a Learning and Development Specialist, you will be an effective communicator both internally and externally with the clients/internal employees you will be supporting. You will become the subject matter expert to demonstrate you have knowledge of the Plansource system. We have a fast paced culture and to be successful here, you must be comfortable with ongoing changes, being able to stay up to date with those changes and provide the answers to our clients/ internal employees. You are the kind of person who can put clients/external employees at ease to ensure they are grasping the information you are training and are able to show your passion of teaching. In addition, your qualifications/skills include:


    • 2 to 4 year degree in related discipline preferred Commensurate experience considered
    • 3 to 5 years of training experience
    • Experience with Healthcare desirable
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
    • Willing and able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and demonstrate flexibility
    • Able to thrive in fast-paced, young organization
    • Self-starter – Able to find the people and information resources required for successful completion of projects
    • Experience with e-learning software tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Premier Pro, Articulate Storyline, etc.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
    • Must be able to work outside of normal work hours occasionally*
    • Willing to travel to other PlanSource locations monthly or quarterly
